It just doesn't make sense!

Love it!  -Claire

The Do's and Don't's as of 10/29/2008

DO NOT...buy chocolate Skittles; they are horrible, and you will throw-up.

DO...participate in festive gatherings; ie: pumpkin carving parties, holiday cookie decorating parties, carol singing, etc. It's good for the soul.

DO NOT...be quick in believing someone has "changed." This is not saying it's not possible, but the odds are they haven't changed. Be cautious.

DO...try a week of sobriety. It's not easy, but it's amazing how good you feel.

DO NOT...trust politicians. You're a fool if you do. Take what they say with a grain of salt; they're just salesmen trying to get your vote, and are NOT God.

DO...eat granola.

DO NOT...move in with someone untill you are engaged to be married to that person. This is one thing I am for sure about.

DO...something outside, like talking a walk, for at least 20 minutes every day.

That's it for now.

No matter what happens...

...I am determined to hate my job today. I'm pissed off at my job and everyone involved in it, and by God, and I'm going to bathe in this misery all day. Honestly, I don't think there's anything that could positively happen today to make me change my mind. It's just one of those days, I guess. Maybe I'll feel better after lunch after I eat the wonderful pumpkin bread I made last night. Yummmm, food, sweet stuff....mmmmmm. You know those people that get all skinny when stress enters their life? I wish I was that person. Me? I eat.

This weekend was nice. I'm telling you, I could get use to this not playing happy hour every week thing. These past couple of Fridays off have been awesome.

5lbs, booze, food, and jazz

I went to the doctor today only to confirm my suspicion about gaining 5lbs. Well, I did. I knew I did before it was ever even "confirmed." It's really not that big of a deal, but we always kinda hope to be pleasantly surprised when they force us to jump on the scale. Oh well, it could be worse, right? Of course. And I must say every glass of wine, piece of cake, Myron's ribeye, and hunk of chewy pugliese bread was wellllll worth every pound!

I've been in to jazz this week, with the help of my friend Jeff and the impressive dinner he made the other night. As of now, it's all about Madeline Peyroux, Billie Holiday, Melody Gardot, and getting my bike fixed. Bye, bye five; I'm sure I'll see you again shortly... *smiles*

"Do I see $125.00 out there? I see $125.00 from the man in the black hat!"

I "manage" a storage unit, but definitely with the help of our day-to-day guy, Dave. He's really the one who does all the work; I just deposit the money. Anyway, I'm sitting here right now at the storage office waiting for Dave to finish auctioning off some units. This line of business definitely has it's ups and down; we call it the "Storage Days of our Lives." We meet some of the most wild characters through the storage business. I never realized how many poor, pitiful, excuse-filled, don't-take-responsibility-for-their-actions people there are in the world. Drives me nuts. This job reminds me why I probably could never be a full-on democrat; I just don't feel sorry enough for people and their self-inflicted problems due to bad decisions.

I'm all about the hyphens in this blog. Bare with me.

Whenever it's Auction Time at the storage, the pity-parties come forth full force. We get everything from "I'm in another state, in a women's shelter, with no money, and the only way you can contact me is through this odd answering machine service, and by the way, I'm dying from a rare form of cancer." Seriously, these people lay it on thick; they want you to feel so sorry for them so you don't sell their junk. Now let's think about this....if you were poor as dirt, couldn't pay your bills, feed your family, etc, wouldn't you want to have your junk auctioned off to relieve you from the financial burden of a monthly expensive rent on a storage unit?! More times than not we go into these units once we have "Claimed their Unit," due to their outstanding balance, only to find worthless crap occupying just a third of their unit. SELL IT! IT'S JUST STUFF! WE EVEN GIVE YOU BACK THE ULTRA PERSONAL STUFF, LIKE PICTURES, AND IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS! Feeding your babies, and paying your mortgage are more important than shelling out, sometimes, $800 to prevent going to auction. It kills me. These people's priorities are so screwed up....

I don't even want to think about this anymore.

Hello? Anyone home?

I speak of  being lonely often, but yet, I'm always yearning for "alone time."  I'm never physically lonely, but I do get emotionally lonely.  I often criticize myself for jumping into a new relationship, either romantically or the friendly plutonic kind, too fiercely in the beginning, but I've come to realize I do this due to the excitement and comfort upon hoping I've found someone to loiter with me in my emotional quirkiness.  On the flip side, although I find myself overly enthused in the beginnings of a new relationship, I often find myself just as disappointed as soon as the hour glass has filled.

I don't mean for this to sound as pompous as it comes across; I, by no means, think I'm am so special that no "common man" can relate to me.  Geez, I hope you guys do not believe I strive for my world to be that selective, or small; OR, that I believe my feelings of loneliness and compatibility are unique from anyone else.  I truly believe, and accept, we ALL struggle to find the "home" within the various people who flutter in and out of our lives.  This process is what makes life interesting and colorful.  Otherwise, we'd be bored, and most likely in a state of constant competition, if we had to wrestle with which "pefect match' we had to choose from each day; there's a reason this compatibility search continues to be a constant through our entire existence.  Ahhhh, the sweet and sour...

What's the difference?

So, I'm on every social network you can think of, well, the two main ones actually, but for some reason I feel more "private" blogging here. It makes absolutely NO sense for me to feel that way; I mean, this is viewable to the world, you don't need a password, or to be a member to view, and I can't control who's on a "preferred" list, "private" list, "best friends at the moment" list, or an "Oooops, my relatives might see this" list. That's a little nerve racking, but what the hell...

Since I'm worn out from the OCD process of simply trying to decide which color my blog title would be versus the color of my text versus my default photo, I will leave you all with today's highlights:

1. Ora Lagunas, you are a light to my world. Thank you so much for the much wanted religious figures bracelet from Mexico. I love it, and your presence warms my heart daily.

2. Central Market, oh how I love thee, let me count the ways. There's not too many other ways to top my day than to meander through a culinary paradise with a forth coming dinner menu in mind.

3. Spending the evening with my dad eating sushi, insanely awesome brie on ciabatta, Wallaby yogurt, and wine. I adore my family, each and every one of them, and craze their company often.

4. I watched this awesome documentary with Jim-dog tonight about a 65 year old married deaf couple who decide to get C.I. hearing implants together. It was so interesting, and moving. Their honesty and intensity were moving and inspiring to me.

5. Lately, I've been wanting to be a child living under my parents roof again. I don't know why; I guess I'm lonely. It always feels good to go "home" no matter if your 5 minutes, or 5 hours, away. I love you, family.

6. Green Goddess juice by Bothouse Farms. It's like nutrition wrapped around a sweet tart. Yum!
